A wonderful thing happened this year on March 18,2009 when the Hawaii State Legislature convened in a special joint session at the state Capitol House chambers in Honolulu to mark the day 50 years ago when Hawaii became a state. A united spirit that could be touched and felt.

During the special event,one of the many fine Hawaiian entertainers who performed in chambers that day with a musical tribute to Hawaiian statehood was Mr Danny Couch: the multi-talented singer,entertainer, composer, lyricist and multiple Hoku Hanohano and Hawaii Music Award winner.

What totally awed and humbled me as I watched the video below was that by the time Danny finished his award winning song THESE ISLANDS; that every one in that room: workers,ex-govenors,senators, teachers,entertainers and their families all became united as one Ohana ( Family)

That day, most of of the folks came as strangers to one another, but they left that room as brothers and sisters. They left walking hand in hand toward the future of Hawaii to make it a better place.
