Music Manager - This refers to the business of managing music acts. Chiefly, this
involves acting as the artist’s representative, negotiating with record labels, setting up radio interviews and tour promoters, usually in return for a percentage of the artist’s earnings.
Tour promoters - This refers to the people responsible for putting together a tour. Included in this job: getting the bookings, pricing the event or tour, providing air, sea or land transportation (optional, however this may take upfront cash and/or sponsors to pay for advertising the tours of the artists, i.e. TV and radio ads, posters, newspaper and magazine adverts, etc.)
For the Artist
Booking Agent – There is a difference between a booking agent and a Band/Artist manager. Booking agents are the people that actually book shows for the artists they represent. We make all of the arrangements with the people promoting the shows. We present the promoter or producer of the concert with a performance agreement, which is the contract that stipulates the artist's requirements (a.k.a. riders), including but not limited to lighting, sound, meals, hotel accommodations and transportation. Many of the major booking agencies will not represent a client unless they are already signed to a major label and have national distribution of their music. Because of this, artists on independent record labels often seek representation with an independent booking agency, Dragon Lair Productions & Promotions

For the Venue or Artist
Venue Buyers - Bars and clubs that specialize in presenting live music on a regular basis often employ an individual to assemble the schedule of events. These people are the venue’s buyers, and should not be confused with the booking agent, who presents their roster of available acts to the buyer. Although Dragon Lair Productions & Promotions is not a Venue Buyer, some of our clients are venue buyers. We also have clients who are known as free-lance promoters. These are individuals that agree to produce a concert by locating a venue, providing a sound system and assembling a staff. Producing a show in this manner, at a location that is rented out for a single evening, is called “four-walling,” as it entails renting a venue and receiving no additional services or technical equipment other than the space itself. This is sometimes the only available option for “new comers” or underground musicians lacking enough popular appeal to gain access to more conventional performance venues.
Concert Buyer - As a concert buyer, Dragon Lair Productions & Promotions will work to find the right artist or artists that will fit in with the needs and budget that is available.
Special Events
Any Special Event by nature is big! Massive undertakings that require, sometimes hundreds of hours of careful planning and preparation. The task is daunting to say the least. If you try to do it yourself, sure you may succeed in pulling it off, but most likely (by purely lack of experience), you'll leave those all too important stones unturned. Those little details you just didn't know were so important! After putting the time, money and energy into your event, why leave anything to chance? Dragon Lair Productions & Promotions and Booking Agency can take care of all the details, such as the Music, food and drinks, locations, logistics, etc. If this all seems a little daunting then don't worry, Dragon Lair Productions & Promotions and Booking Agency can take the worry out of your next event. Here are just a few things we can do for you and your next event:
• talk with and offer suggestions to make sure your requests can be met
• negotiate the type and costs of services to be provided, within a budget
• consult with management to make sure adequate staff members are rostered for duty
• organize the venue and make sure that it is appropriately set up
• consult with service providers such as entertainers, sound/staging companies, caterers and transport companies
• coordinate staff to make sure that the program of events occurs on time follow up with the client to arrange payment and, after the event, to evaluate the service provided
• collect and analyse data on projects undertaken, and report on project outcomes
• find solutions to problems concerning services or programs provided, or the people affected
• advise senior management on matters requiring their attention and implement their decisions
• review and develop administrative systems and procedures
• oversee work by contractors and report on variations to work

**********WORD OF CAUTION Unfortunately there are many people in the entertainment /music industry who will try to take advantage of new comers. Do your research and make sure they are an established agency with a website. Be aware that no agency should ever charge you for representation, but there may be costs involved when you are starting out. An Agency may suggest you get new photos or training, and may have good contacts for you to take advantage of. If you sign with an agency, be sure to ask for proof of past bookings, references or client lists. No Agency has ever paid for a newcomers portfolio without being repaid for the costs after the talent begins working, so don’t expect to be given handouts. Do your research to avoid falling for an agency that does not procure auditions and book work.

Definition For In the music industry, a record producer (or music producer) has many roles, among them controlling the recording sessions, coaching and guiding the musicians, organizing and scheduling production budget and resources, and supervising the recording, mixing and mastering processes. This has been a major function of producers since the inception of sound recording, but in the later half of the 20th century producers also took on a wider entrepreneurial role. These activities comprise record production. Modern record producer's are also responsible for the tonal quality of sound's being recorded. If recording a rock band, it is the producer's responsibility to know what a "good guitar" track sounds like. This is a key role of the record producer because it separates a "demo" quality recording from a "pro" recording.
In the UK, before the rise of the Record Producer, the A&R Man would oversee the recording session, assuming responsibility for creative’s decisions relating to the recording.
The music producer could be compared to the film director in that the producer's job is to create, shape and mould a piece of music in accordance with their vision for the album.
