Artist Profile |
About: I've gone through many musical gyrations over my life. I began as a voice and music theory major in college, dropped out and discovered punk rock in San Diego with the legendary Claude Coma and the IVs. From there I moved back to my home state of Michigan and was a member of The Burdons, a punkish power pop combo whose only studio album climbed to #40 on the US Rock Indie chart. As music life tamed down and gigs became 1 and 2 night affairs, I got a degree and then a job in Illinois. It was here I enjoyed a transformation to blues piano playing, first with Lorrie Ann & the 3D Rhythm Band, and finally with The Hands. All this time, though, I've been writing and recording. My first solo CD, The Big Machine, was accepted and promoted by The Planetary Group and did quite well, picking up chart activity on more than 60 stations in limited release. My new CD, One Brother, is due out in Jan, 2008. I have bigger plans for this project, and those plans involved my stripping down the sound to something I can easily replicate as a solo performer. I'm packing the pickup truck and heading to a town near you!

Influences: My influences aren't necessarily how I sound. They include Harry Belafonte and Bruce Springsteen (masters of the live show); John Hiatt and Elvis Costello (perfect marriage of wit, wisdom and great hooks); Jim Morrison and Al Green (sweet, soulful, yearning singers), and Dionne Warwicke, Roy Orbison, and kd lang (singers above all singers). Personally? Martin Luther King and John Lennon.
Musicians / Members:
