- Alain Samba is a french congolese born saxophone player, composer & percussionist, he early began to play different kinds of percussions in his native place. He was influenced listening both african & western music on the radio there.
He moved to Paris at the age of 8, where he studied at the American School of modern music . Saxophone is his main instrument. His music is inspired mostly by central africa's rythms as pygmies' polyrythmies & polyphonies . He used to define his music as a painting
He recorded 2 cd : "the African Trilogy" &" the Two Seasons". He played with musicians such as Check Tidjane Seck (organ), Steve Mc Craven (drums), Tony Allen (drums)...in the 90's he performed many times in Paris clubs : Cithea, Reservoir, Canal opus, Opa, Aleph ...
During a month, from 6 june to 9 july 2005, he was elected by the commission of Congo sur Scene, a great cultural event at Paris Town Hall, to promote congolese art musically ! But Alain Samba, as an artist, takes part for the struggle of world citizenship .
" Today, african rythms, sounds & moods are also enjoyed through John Coltrane, Randy Weston, Yusef Lateef, Art Blackey, Dizzie Gillespie...I would like to teach what i have learned from my ancestors " -
