Artist Profile |
About: born and raised in the mountains of north carolina, i started taking drum lessons at the age of 9. i continued with that, playing with an assortment of garage bands through the years until i graduated high high school. i moved to georgia and attended the atlanta college of art in 1996. that's when i met a florida dj who was spinning breaks and house. having been a fan of breaks and d'n'b for a few years, i was into the idea of learning how to mix records. i was able to pick up on my dorm neighbors decks and try it out. i picked it up quickly and found it to be quite addictive. i started playing at house parties, warehouse events, and basements. when i moved back to asheville in late '99, i kept it going for a while, spinning d'n'b mostly with some hip-hop and dance hall mash ups. then i got bored with myself. so i started a new challenge in mixing more abstract and retro stuff. things that you would not expect to be thrown down together. in doing so, i found a new love for the decks. in the last year i have started the next journey. i now experiment with making my own original tracks. it's a fairly experimental approach. no synths, and no live instruments. i take samples and put them thru the ringer until i get a sound i like. the work evolves around itself as i bend and twist it into new sounds. my monitary broketitude forces boundries upon me that challenge my creativity, and i like that. lately i have worked with a few artists and done some remix stuff that i find most exiting.

Influences: my brain imploded when i tried to think of my favorite artists. all of them? well that can't work. then the word favorite is moot. still smoldering here...
