Nick Cave's Grinderman revs up for album, tour - Grinderman [ tickets -- Nick Cave's relatively new band with Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos -- will start a three-week tour on Nov. 13 at the House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. The band explained what happened in a statement posted today (8/30) on its website :"We are incredibly sorry about our last minute cancellation last night in Redmond -- the decision wasn't taken lightly. Ezra had some vocal issues earlier in the day, but felt like he was improving however, while he was warming up just moments prior to our set time he lost his voice completely and was unable to perform. Album: Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses, "Junky Star" (Lost Highway) - Ryan Bingham [ tickets 's name recognition skyrocketed when he won the best song Oscar for his work on "Crazy Heart" with producer T Bone Burnett, with whom he is reunited on "Junky Star." Bingham's first two records were made with former Black Crowe Marc Ford at the helm and their sonic sprawl -- amps-to-11 rockers, campfire tales and everything in between -- positioned the singer/guitarist as multi-faceted but not necessarily focused. Burnett allows Bingham to retain his wide-ranging scope while controlling the wilder elements. The two Texans look to their brethren for direction -- there's a lot of Steve Earle in the vocals and James McMurtry in the lyrics, an openness in the overall sound. Swell Season urges counseling for fans who witnessed concert death - The members of The Swell Season say they have attended grief counseling after a man took a fatal jump onto the stage during a recent performance, and are encouraging fans who were at the show to do the same. The band reportedly has even picked up the bill for some group-counseling sessions.
